They can't tie laces yet. Which styles can they wear?
We’d recommend our riptape and zipped silhouettes. Or for kids who might learn to use laces soon, our 1460 boots have laces and a zip to cover all bases.
I don't know my kid’s shoe size in Doc's – where can I get an accurate measurement?
Our store teams can help you to measure their feet and try on styles. Each product page also has a size guide on it.
Are kids’ DM’s comfy?
Yes – almost all of our kids’ styles use Softy T, lightweight and full-grain leather that has relaxed feel right out the box. Some patent and adult-sized styles may need few wears to feel broken in, so we’d suggest encouraging your little ones to wear them around the house to get used to the fit before they take them out.
Are the soles the same as adult shoes and boots?
Not entirely. We use the classic Dr. Martens air-cushioned sole, but we adapted it with a flexible cemented sole construction for feet that are constantly moving, playing and running. So the soles feel much softer than our typical adult soles – but are built with the same quality.
Can they wear Doc’s as part of their school uniform?
We engineered our kids’ range with school in mind. So we have plenty of styles with features that will pass school uniform checks, such as black stitching instead of our signature yellow stitching. Or removable bows – great if they want to pop them back on for the weekend. Jump to the different features of our kids’ boots and shoes for help with this.
How do I make their DM’s last longer?
Just like our adult boots and shoes, our kids’ styles are built to be artfully scuffed up. But you can help them last longer by using our Wonder Balsam which softens leather and helps prevent cracks, or our Polish which revives scuffs and cracks. You can also gently clean patent shoes and boots with our Patent Cleaner. A bit of care will go a long way when it comes to passing their shoes down.
Do you have matching kids and adult styles?
Yes - we have range of mini me styles with adult versions. So you can meet and match at the school gate.
What age do your kids’ styles go up to?
They go from toddler - so 1 year old - to age 9. But we know that all kids grow at different rates, so you might find that yours needs bigger size earlier on. Explore our sizing tiles below for help with this.
