Decade after decade. Generation after generation. Thrifted, inherited and borrowed. DM’s have long been passed down — old pairs of boots finding life with new wearers. We’re proud to be offering our wearers second-hand, restored DM’s for the first time. We’ve partnered with Depop and The Boot Repair Company to trial Dr. Martens ReSouled — restoring worn footwear to its former glory — ready to hit the pavement or the pit.

How does ReSouled work?

We take worn DM’s in need of repair and clean them inside and out using Micro-Fresh®. Our skilled repairers at The Boot Repair Company then repair any faults. The restored DM’s are then boxed up ready to be sold through our ReSouled Depop shop.

Why have DM’s launched ReSouled?

We’ve committed to offering more options and support to help our wearers maximise the life of their footwear by 2025. ReSouled is our next step forward on our path towards leaving things better than we found them — to help our wearers make the most of every pair of DM’s.

Who are The Boot Repair Company?

The Boot Repair Company provide a quality, skilled service that brings footwear back to life whilst caring for our planet — helping get faulty, worn footwear back into shape and onto feet.

What condition will my ReSouled product be in?

We have two grades of footwear on ReSouled; ‘Excellent’ which is lightly used with no noticeable flaws, and ‘Good’ which will have some signs of wear or minor flaws. All ReSouled product is cleaned and sanitised inside and out to a professional standard using Micro-Fresh®. All footwear is marked inside the tongue or strap so it can be identified as ReSouled product.

What is the difference between ‘Excellent’ and ‘Good’ condition?

Excellent:

  • Some components like zips, insoles and eyelets may have been replaced
  • There may be some small signs of wear, minor defects, light marking or light creasing
  • The sole may show some small signs of wear
  • Insoles will be either new or cleaned and sanitised so they are like new
  • All ReSouled product is cleaned and sanitised inside and out to a professional standard using Micro-Fresh®

Good:

  • Some components like zips, insoles and eyelets may have been replaced
  • There may be signs of wear, minor defects, moderate marking or creasing
  • The sole may show signs of heavier wear, but will always have tread left
  • Insoles will be either new or cleaned and sanitised but may show signs of wear
  • All ReSouled product is cleaned and sanitised inside and out to a professional standard using Micro-Fresh®
Why is ReSouled only available in the UK?

The project is currently in the trial stage. To reduce the carbon footprint of shipping, we’ve kept the trial local to the UK, which is where the repairs are undertaken. If the trial is successful, we will look to expand ReSouled — while still remaining mindful of our carbon impact.

What will happen if this trial is successful?
