BOOT DOCTOR TIP: GOOD TIMES CAN TAKE A TOLL ON YOUR BOOTS — LOOK AFTER THEM AND THEY’LL LOOK AFTER YOU
Step 1: YOUR SHOE CARE KIT
Find a table or a patch of floor that can stand to get a little bit wet or muddy. Even if your shoes are fresh as a daisy, we’d still avoid the carpet. You’ll need your tin of Dubbin Wax, a couple of cloths and a bowl of water.
Step 2: REMOVE DIRT
If you’re working with boots that have been working hard, they might need a quick clean before you pick up the Dubbin. Remove any laces to clean separately, and use a damp cloth to wipe off any mud and dirt from the leather and soles.
BOOT DOCTOR TIP: IF YOUR BOOTS HAVE LIVED A LITTLE, BANG THEM TOGETHER TO REMOVE ANY EXCESS MUD FIRST
Step 3: GET GREASY
Use a clean cloth to scoop up some Dubbin and apply generously all over the boot or shoe — make sure you really work it into the seams. Your footwear will look shiny when the Dubbin is fresh, but will matte down as the wax dries. Sit back and wait.
BOOT DOCTOR TIP: DUBBIN CAN TAKE A WHILE TO DRY. WHY NOT MAKE THE MOST OF THE WAIT AND TAKE A MOMENT TO LOOK AFTER ANY OTHER WELL-WORN DOCS YOU MIGHT BE HIDING IN THE WARDROBE
Step 4: FINISH UP
Once your boots or shoes have dried, you can re-lace them. If you’re feeling adventurous, why not take advantage of the spring clean and try out a fresh pair of laces? Finish with a few sprays of Dr. Martens Ultra Protector Spray to preserve all your hard work for even longer.
WITH A LITTLE BIT OF CARE, THEY’LL LAST EVEN LONGER
