The 1460 boot. The Original. Born 1st April 1960, and named after the date. Our unmistakable 8-eye boot started out life at the feet of workers — and soon became a cultural icon. It’s instantly recognisable by its yellow welt stitching, scripted heel loop, unique sole tread, and other distinctly DM’s features. The wide, rounded toe shape and grooved, air-cushioned sole keep you bouncing even on your longest days. And the durable Smooth leather shapes itself around you — more yours with every wear.

This narrower version of the 1460 boot was initially designed for a women’s fit — but is no different from the Original 1460 boot. If you’re looking for our classic boot with a narrower shape, this was built for you.

Material

Smooth leather is as classic as it gets: with us from the beginning, it is famously tough and can be buffed up to a high shine or artfully scuffed up.

Care Instructions

Wipe away dirt using a damp cloth. Apply a neutral or correct colored wax based shoe polish. Buff with a Dr. Martens Shoe Brush to restore shine as desired.

Construction

This is a Goodyear-welted product. The upper and sole are heat-sealed and sewn together, not merely glued like many footwear constructions.
