The Adrian loafer combines traditional British footwear construction and all essential loafer features, but done the Dr. Martens way. Proportions have been played with - a longer apron, thicker last, large tassels – to create a distinctively Doc's silhouette.

HISTORY
The first Adrian loafer is believed to go back to the 1970s in Doc's lore.
DESIGN
The Adrian loafer has handmade tassels, threaded through a saddle that is secured to the quarter with a rectangular stitch. This type of stitch is synonymous with British shoemaking. The moc toe is deliberately crafted to give a rugged stitch which protrudes from the shoe. The classic loafer has an upper on a DMS sole, dating right back to the original 1460 Boot.
HEAT SEALING
The use of plastics in shoemaking was rare in the 1950s. But Drs. Funck and Maertens innovated and landed on a PVC welt that was stitched to the upper of each boot. Then, Funck masterminded a machine that inserted a hot knife between two layers of sole. Pressure applied; the sole was fused to the welt. Still used to this day. Sole and welt, heat-sealed in perpetuity.
