The Adrian loafer combines traditional British footwear construction and all essential loafer features, but done the Dr. Marten’s way. Proportions have been played with - a longer apron, thicker last, large tassels – to create a distinctively Doc’s silhouette.

HISTORY
The first Adrian loafer is believed to go back to the 1970s in Doc’s lore.
DESIGN
The Adrian loafer boasts handmade tassels, threaded through a saddle that is secured to the quarter with a rectangular stitch. This type of stitch is synonymous with British shoe making. The moc toe is deliberately crafted to give a rugged stitch which protrudes from the shoe. The classic loafer has an upper on a DMS sole, dating right back to the original 1460 boot.
HEAT SEALING
The use of plastics in shoe-making was rare in the 1950s. But Drs Funck and Maertens innovated and landed on a PVC welt that was stitched to the upper of each boot. Then, Funck masterminded a machine that inserted a hot knife between two layers of sole. Pressure applied; the sole was fused to the welt. Still used to this day. Sole and welt, heat-sealed in perpetuity.
