Your boots are your journey mates. Every now and then they love a little extra attention to keep them nourished and protected.
Consider Dubbin your chance for some quality time with your boots. As our heaviest wax, it offers the deepest nourishment, sealing and waterproofing for genuine long-term durability. Take ten minutes to massage the wax into the leather and play around with layers depending on the depth of tone you’re after.
Dubbin is particularly fond of the greasy, oily or waxy leathers, like Crazy Horse, Greasy and Grizzly. “But don't use Dubbin on things like suedes and nubucks, which have got a more hairy finish,” says Doc’s Care Specialist, Michelle Engert. “They'll kill it! Stay away!”
If you’re using your Wonder Balsam monthly, Dubbin is a great accompaniment and can be used occasionally: a bi-annual affair.
You won’t need wax for vegan-friendly products, Genix Nappa, suede, nubuck or patent.
STEP 1
KIT
Gather a couple of cloths, a bowl of water and a tin of Dubbin Wax on newspaper or a patch of floor that can stand to get a bit wet or muddy.
STEP 2
CLEAN
If you’ve already been wearing your boots, they’ll need a quick clean before you wax them. If they have shoelaces, remove and clean them separately. Then use a damp cloth to wipe any dirt from the leather and soles.
STEP 3
WAX
Use a clean cloth to scoop up some Dubbin and apply generously all over your boots. Make sure you really work it into the seams. Your boots will look shiny at first but will matte down as the wax dries.
STEP 4
WAIT
Once the coating is even, leave to dry for about six hours. Give the wax a chance to fully embed in the leather.
STEP 5
RE-LACE
Dubbin’s so great on our Crazy Horse leather. Keep polishing and nourishing - it’ll just get better and better.
