DIY DOCS: WESLEY RAUSCH

OUR STORE TEAM GET CREATIVE

Our Dr. Martens community has been getting creative. Shining a spotlight on our team across the globe, we’re checking out how they’ve been keeping themselves busy with their #DIYDOCS.

We caught up with Wesley, who works as an assistant store manager in our Bonn, Germany store and has customised his Jadon platform boots.

Can you tell us a bit about your design?

At a very young age I found myself fascinated by art-like cartoons, comic books and graffiti. My art started with doodles on any kind of surface I could find and got cleaner over the years as I kept on practicing. In my early twenties, I discovered the tattoo world and ever since then my interest for American-Traditional art has been growing. Sailor Jerry, who had a big impact on the traditional tattoo history is definitely one of my biggest inspirations.

Art for me is all about fun, trying new things and getting out of my comfort zone. There's no rules when it comes to art which gives me tremendous freedom to create.

What did you use to customise your boots?

I like my art to have bold solid designs that you can tell from 3 feet away what it's supposed to be. Tattoos, graffiti and cartoons keep me heavily inspired. I chose a white acrylic marker so there's good contrast on the shoe, and it easily stands out. Using a hairdryer helps speed up the drying process and prevents smudging.

What Docs are your current favourites?

My all time favourite is the black Smooth 1460 boot, because it's a timeless design and works with every outfit.

What do you do in your free time?

In my free time I like to skateboard, paint and explore nature with my dog.

What three tracks are you listening to at the moment?

Anything from Bob Marley.
