BOOT DOCTOR TIP: TAKING SOME TIME TO LOOK AFTER YOUR SUEDE MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE
Step 1: YOUR SHOE CARE KIT
First up, find a spot you don’t mind getting a bit wet or flicked with mud. You’ll need a damp cloth or sponge, some clean water, a suede brush and your bottle of Dr. Martens Suede Cleaner. Find a playlist to keep you entertained for 20-30 minutes.
Step 2: REMOVE DIRT
If you’ve been putting your boots through their paces, they might need a clean-up first. Whip out your laces to clean separately and wipe down the boots with a damp cloth.
BOOT DOCTOR TIP: IF YOUR BOOTS HAVE LIVED A LITTLE, BANG THEM TOGETHER TO REMOVE ANY EXCESS MUD FIRST
Step 3: GET STUCK IN
Give the bottle a good shake, then spray your boots all over. Scrub gently with a clean, damp sponge or cloth. Once you’ve scrubbed the entire boot, use the sponge or cloth to wipe lightly with clean water to remove excess cleaner. Be careful not to get the suede too wet. Leave to dry naturally.
Step 4: GRAB YOUR SUEDE BRUSH
Once your boots are dry, use the soft rubber side of your brush to sweep lightly over the suede. Make sure you brush in the same direction to keep your suede looking as fresh as possible.
BOOT DOCTOR TIP: A NEW PAIR OF LACES CAN ADD A WHOLE NEW LOOK
Step 5: RE-LACE
Pop your clean laces back in, or play around with a new pair. Suede makes a great canvas for some funky patterns and bright colours. Finish with a few sprays of Dr. Martens Ultra Protector, in case it’s a while before you sit down for your next spring clean.
