The Dr. Martens 3989 brogue is our take on the classic silhouette — restitched to stand out from the crowd. This version of the 3989 shoe is built using oiled Crazy Horse leather, which will develop a unique character over time. The brogue stands on our BEN sole — marked with DM’s grooving and cleats and secured with our yellow welt stitching.

  • In the 60s, the 3989 shoe broke the mould of a British brogue. Unisex and robust, on a rugged Dr. Martens sole: it’s a brogue, the DM’s way.
  • Crazy Horse is an oiled leather designed to mark with time — scuffing and folding uniquely to every wearer. The full-grain leather is treated with wax layers that cause natural variations in colour and make it easier to soften and break in with Wonder Balsam or Dubbin.
  • Developed in the 80s. The BEN sole has deeper cleats and a rugged undersole tread pattern.
  • Our Goodyear-welted lines are heat-sealed and reinforced with our signature welt stitch

Care Instructions

.[Crazyhorse] = Wipe away Dirt with damp cloth, ensure shoes are dry then apply proprietary Silicone or waxed product designed for waxy oily leathers - such as Dr Martens Wonder Balsam.

Construction

This is a Goodyear-welted product. The upper and sole are heat-sealed and sewn together, not merely glued like many footwear constructions.
